Melbourne Chamber Orchestra is Melbourne’s preeminent professional chamber orchestra and leading chamber music organisation. The Orchestra’s Artistic Director is the leading Australian violinist and concertmaster Sophie Rowell. In more than 50 performances each season, the state’s most exciting chamber musicians come together to create music with uncompromising artistic quality, finesse and passion. The orchestra has Melbourne seasons at the Melbourne Recital Centre. MCO’s chamber music season is presented as the Ensemble-in-Residence of Australian Digital Concert Hall. Performances broadcast and streamed by 3MBS further extend MCO’s audience. Together they have been hailed as the new superstar duo of this rare flute / oboe combination with major European press noting “The harmony between the two soloists is almost dizzying” they are “Perfectly attuned” and play with ‘Brilliant Elegance’ (BBC). Wynton Marsalis & The Lincoln Centre Jazz Orchestra

Straight off the plane from New York Wynton Marsalis, our modern day Louis Armstrong and the world’s greatest musicians from The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra make their appearance  for a 6-day residency at the Snow Concert Hall.
Marsalis is the winner of 9 GRAMMY Awards, and his oratorio Blood on the Fields was the first jazz composition to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music. He’s the only musician to win a GRAMMY Award in two categories, jazz and classical, during the same year (1983, 1984). Read more..
